1.25" Eyepiece Holder for Meade 4400

The Meade 4400 was one of the most commonly-encountered backyard telescopes produced; many amateur astronomers own one, and they can be bought for a song on the used market, but few of those scopes ever see any use. Why? Because they were made to accept the old .965" diameter Huygens and Ramsden style eyepieces, which are hopelessly inferior to modern Plossls.

The scopes, however, were not half bad for what they were, and if one could attach modern eyepieces to one, it would make a great little beginner scope for the kids, a quick grab-n-go to leave by the back door, or a telescope to leave out at the cabin.

This piece is not an adapter, but an actual replacement for the eyepiece holder. The original .965" holder just threads off, and this one threads on in its place. It's that simple. Since it replaces the old eyepiece holder instead of adding an extra piece in between, the 1.25" eyepieces sit right where the .965" ones did before, so the problem encountered with not having enough "in-focus travel" that is typical with .965"-to-1.25" adapters is completely avoided.

Made of quality black-anodized aluminum, this part can give that old scope that has been collecting dust in your attic a new lease on life for a very affordable price.
